Yesterday Lawson turned 10. Double digits, can you believe it? This is our first kid, the one who made us parents.
I still remember that day so well. I had gone in on January 13 around 8:30 pm to have them prep me to be induced the next morning, my blood pressure had been slightly high the previous week. I labored all day long and never dilated above a 4. After many hours I finally got an epidural which helped ease the pain a lot. By 8:30 that night the doctor told us she was about 95% sure that he wouldn't fit. My boys have big heads. Hearing I needed a c-section was a bit scary for Jake and I, but we wanted to do what was best and would get him here safe. They prepped me for a surgery and Lawson joined our little family at 9:33 pm that night. I don't do so well with anesthesia or pain meds they make me feel awful. I was down and out for a good day or two at the hospital. Jake was
the best dad! It came so natural to him. He was such a comfort to me as well. He was pretty much the care taker of Lawson the first 2 days, except for feeding him of course :).
Lawson was an awesome first child. He was a perfect baby and toddler to help teach us the ropes of the parenting thing. He was so inquisitive , social and happy from the beginning. He was talking about all sorts of things by the time he was 18 months and hasn't stopped since! We love him and are so happy he is a part of our family!!
So our week has been pretty good. The kids started back to school as did I. The kids are doing great and glad to be back at school to learn and see their friends. I went to 2 classes this week and have been debating ever since if I should still stick to one at a time, depending on the classes and work load that each class requires.
Lawson's class is going to do a challenge that they can participate in that involves only using 15-20 a day of anything technology for a week. I think it will be a great challenge . I think it would be a great one for the whole family. My book for my Information Systems class is an ebook, so that may have to be an exception. We celebrated his birthday on the night before, Sunday, because I have a Monday night class. He picked German food for his meal so we got some fancy brats from Siegfried's Deli. I made vinegar cucumbers, and German potato salad. He also wanted an Oreo cheesecake so I made one of those too. He wanted to play Rook and Uno. It was a fun night. The coolest part of the evening was when he got his Guitar. Jake really wanted to get him this for his birthday and has been planning it and getting it ready for a while. It will be fun for Laws to learn.
Ava was thrilled to learn that one of her favorite friends Jaxon will be coming back to school for a few days a week. She loves to play with him and her cousin Jack a lot and thinks it is pretty awesome they are both in her class. She was excited to start a new year of Primary, with not much of a change in her class. She has great teachers she really enjoys.
Pierce got to go to his new Primary class this Sunday. It is essentially the same class, but in a different, cooler room. He was a little bummed that his friend Ty, who is in Sunbeams now, was not going to be in his class. We were in the car last Friday on the way to a party and Jake was driving and I was just kind of swaying and singing to the music along with the Jake and the kids. Pierce said, "Mom, I really like your dancing!" He says the cutest things all the time.
Wes is repeating so many words. He is at a really fun stage. He is getting better at communicating and I can usually tell what he wants or needs.
I started up school this last week and have a Monday and Tuesday night class. Both classes have a lot of reading, especially business law. I may just stick to one class so I can focus all my efforts there and do well. I want to be better at organizing my time and commitments better so that maybe other semesters I feel like I can handle more of a class load. I have taken 2 classes a couple semesters in this last year, but they were easier classes. I really need to make myself a schedule! And maybe a family one also. I am on my second week of writing in my journal and am hoping to keep it up. I will just have to add it to my schedule I am making, right?! It was good to be back at our ward with our new schedule, which I am still getting used to. We missed last week when we attended our nephew Mason's blessing (Landon and Alicia's baby). Our ward has some great people who all have different talents and experiences that help me learn and grow.
Jake had another busy week at work and was the best to take care of the kids and the house while I was at my classes 2 nights last week. Yep, he is awesome.
I really only have the Guitar picture of Laws this time. That is something else I need to be better at, take more picture and videos for that matter. I will leave you with a couple more of the birthday boy.
