My last post was a few weeks ago on Lawson's birthday. Well 2 days later I also celebrated a birthday. My birthday is kind of like birthday left overs at this point in time and I am okay with that. I do like to celebrate with my family, but it is the kids birthdays that we really focus on. I did have a really great day though. Weston had been sick for a couple of days so I was tired and not feeling 100%. A lot of people wished me a happy birthday one way or another which I really appreciated. My good friend Becca brought us dinner which was so thoughtful (and so tasty). Jake whipped it up for us so I could rest. Then a couple of days later we did Chinese food for my birthday dinner.
Another year and I don't really feel any older or wiser,
but with school I am working on the wiser part😉
I have decided to blog every other week. That way I feel I have a little more to write about. Although this time it was a little bit longer than that.
We enjoyed a fun Martin Luther King Day long weekend. We just enjoyed time as a family. The snow day was great. I did A LOT of shoveling, but the snow was so beautiful and I really enjoyed watching the kids play. Wes loved his first time playing in the snow and made it for over an hour. The 3 older kids enjoyed it for much longer! Jake worked, but was off by about noon and helped me with the second round of shoveling which was awesome. He also helped, along with our neighbors, the kids build a little sledding hill and a mini snow tunnel. The kids were pretty stoked. What a fun Dad!
I am so glad that January is over! It always seems to drag. We just have to make it through February and then Spring will be close. We are already on day 3, so there's that! We took down the snowman decorations and put up the valentine decorations a couple days ago. For those of you who have visited our home before, you know that we change up the decorations associated with upcoming holidays or seasons every month to keep things interesting. The kids really enjoy them and make sure we get them up right at the first of every month (except for Christmas, it goes up the day after Thanksgiving).
Today we enjoyed the Superbowl together as a family and when I say Superbowl, I mean the snacks and the commercials (and sometimes the halftime depending on who is performing). I think my two favorites were the ones with Jason Bateman (Hyundai) and Steve Carell (Pepsi).
Jake stayed busy at work the past few weeks. He as been doing some home projects as well and is almost already done with the taxes this year, which I am so grateful for because I have done them in the past. I have said it before and I am sure I will say it again, Jake is such a hard worker and he is great at accomplishing goals! I do okay, but I wish I had as much drive as he did sometimes. Something to strive for.
Anna...I have been trying to organize things in the house better and am slowly but surely getting things done. There are still a few other things in my life I would like to organize/manage better and I am making progress. Sometimes I wish things would come easier to me, but where is the fun in that, right?! It is good to learn and grow.
I have been learning a lot of new and interesting things in my Information Systems class. I am working hard and trying to keep a good balance with the other aspects of life while keeping on top of assignments. Some days I am better at it than others.
I went to a fun girls night this past week at my Friends cute home. It was so nice to get out for a few hours and just hang out with some of the great women in my neighborhood and get to know a couple that I did not know already. It was perfect. I had a really fun time and I am thankful for the invite and the good time I had there. I feel like a little break from home, even if just for a short time, helps me appreciate what I have a bit more. I feel like relaxing and having a little me time helps me come home refreshed and more positive about things. I also appreciate Jake for being so willing to help out with the kids to allow me to do so. Love him!
Lawson moved up to Webelos in scouts and we were able to attend his pack meeting with him and see him get his Bear achievement. His leaders had great things to say about him which makes this mamma so proud. We also went to Parent Teacher conference for the kids and he is doing great in school and he really enjoys to learn. Jake and I really love to see our kids learn and grow and accomplish great things in their lives and are excited to see all that they will grow up to do.
Ava is also doing great in school. The teacher is encouraging her to read more chapter books, which she is really excited about. Junie B. Jones are some of her favorites. She is Weston's favorite person and it is so fun to hear him call out "Ava" all the time. Tonight as they were getting in to bed he yelled " night Ava" to her. It was the cutest. She is so good with him and loves to play and help take care of him. Love her and her tender heart!
Pierce is the best! I admit he can be defiant sometimes and it is hard to get him to listen, but he is so sweet at the same time. He is starting to practice more letters and is great at counting to about 12 and then it starts to get all jumbled. His friend was coming over to play the other day and when I told him he said, "YES! My best friend Ty?" He is a pretty good friend to almost everyone and loves to play.
Weston is such a sweet baby with the cheesiest smile, which he is pretty good at sharing with others. He is slowly getting used to nursery. He is nervous for the first little bit and then will play the last 1/2 or so without worrying too much if he can see me in the corner. He is repeating more and more words and is trying to communicate with two words put together for a lot of things. He is growing up so fast and trying so hard to keep up with his older siblings.
I love my family so much and am so grateful for the different
and great things each one of them adds to my life.
A handful of pictures from our fun snow day
Wes was pretty impressed with himself for making his chili bowl into a hat
Lawson and Ava making gum with his gum making science kit from Aunt Amy for his birthday
Pierce wanted to try the gum, but was too busy playing with action figures to help make it
Superbowl fun. Also you may notice Pierce is sometime blurry in pictures, well it is because he can't sit still :)
