We have enjoyed the nice weather, taking advantage of the outdoors doing yard work, taking walks and even hitting the softball around the field a bit. This was a hard winter to just be at home with not much else to do. We got creative and had fun as a family, but it will be nice to be able to do a little more outdoors now. The weather has been kind of back and forth the last couple months, but I think the warmer weather is finally going to stick around. YAY!
It has been a bit! With my school, the kids school, keeping the house all together and other various projects I have neglected my blog a wee bit. I will try to hit all the highlights for you.
Valentines day fun, delivering valentines, made and frosted heart sugar cookies, homemade pizza, valentines surprises and a movie night.
SEP Conferences...All the kids are doing well in school and their teachers had some really nice things to say about them. Proud parents for sure!
Lindsay Garden and Emigration canyon sledding. The kids loved it. My favorite part was the warm house and the hot chocolate afterwards. I did go down once and it made my heart happy to see the kids having so much fun. I actually only went once, homework to do. Jake, the cool dad, took them the other time. He is a good sport and loves to do things with the kids.
Jake gave all the kids haircuts. A man of many talents.
John Wayne Movie Night
Disney Family Fued x 2
St. Patty's day I planned a little scavenger hunt ending with gold and green treats. I think I have been doing this since Laws was about 2 or 3 and it has been a fun tradition. We enjoyed green food foor dinner and we watched Darby O'Gill that night (and when I say we, I mean Jake and the kids, I was doing homework)
Ava turned 9! Can you believe it, she is growing up so fast into a beautiful, smart, fun and kind young women. She is such a great helper with chores and with her younger brothers. She loves doing things for other people. We celebrated with homeade chinese food and Mint Oreo cheesecake bars.
She loves mint and we Love her!
For Easter, the Easter bunny left the kids breakfast and a few clues to find their Easter baskets when Dad got home from work. The Easter Bunny knows Dad works and they always leave breakfast to keep the kids tied over until Jake gets home for the rest of the fun. We also enjoyed making chinese noodle nests, coloring eggs and an Easter Egg hunt in the yard. Since the weather was warm and we could be outdoors we got the Clift cousins together for a little Coivd friendly egg hunt in Grandpa and Grandma's backyard. It was really fun. We haven't all been together in over a year.
To finish out the night we had Pulled Pork and Potato Salad. Good times!
The last Saturday of April Jake and some of his brothers took down a lot of the huge trees on the east side of our house. It was a big project, but we had some great help! Some of the wives were helping haul the wood as well. We were so grateful to all that helped and for all we got done. We have some pretty great families! Jake rented a big lift to help with the project and Jake's brothers brought chain saws. It is always a good time when those Fetzer boys get together, whether it is a party or a project!
We are still organizing and getting rid of the wood.
Finals. I just finished my finals. I was so glad to be done with my finance class. It was a lot of work, but it payed off. My other class was pretty chill. Now a couple weeks off. YAY! I was originally going to take summer semester off, but one of the classes fits better with my schedule in the summer so I added another one just for kicks. Also because it is only a half semester course, it is always nice to end early. I am down to 4 classes. Crazy, right?! As long as everything goes as planned I graduate in December. Then the tricky part, figuring out what I want to do and eventually getting a job. It is a little crazy to me since I haven't worked in over 12 years.
Last, but not least we enjoyed a quick overnighter to the cabin this last weekend. The weather was nice and we enjoyed it. We brought Julie with us, which is always a treat. We played a few games, took a little hike and just enjoyed our time together at the Cabin.
One more thing. Tomorrow is mother's day. I cannot express how grateful I am to be a mother and to have 2 of the greatest mom's around. I love my kids and am so priveledged to be their mom. I love seeing each of them learn and grow. They all have such unique personalities and I am so excited to see where life will take them.
As for my mom, she is so great and always has been. All of my sisters and I have gotten to spend some quality time with her in the evenings rotating while my dad is at work. A few weeks after my mom's knee surgery, she fell and broke her femur. She is healing and getting around a little better, but has been in a wheelchair. We take turns staying with her and helping her on my dad's work days. It has been pretty neat to just talk and reminice with her.
I lucked out in the mother-in-law department as well. Julie is my second mom and I love spending time with her and chatting with her. Since we first started dating, she has always made me feel like part of the family and I have loved getting to know her better and better as the years pass. Both of them are great grandma's to our kids as well. They love them a lot!
Enjoy the random pictures from the last few months.
