We got This!

St. Patricks Day

My last post was when life still seemed pretty normal, just before all of the craziness which is now our new normal.  We are still trying to find the best way to effectively deal with all of this.

The first week of March Lawson decided to be in his school play and got to go to the practice 4 times before school was out.  He was excited and had just found out he got the role of the Prince.  The next practice was their last.  He was pretty bummed but is looking forward to doing it next year.

Friday the 6th was my Mom's birthday.  Her and my Dad came with us to a Utah Gymnastics meet.  We had a great time with them, and the kids had a good time.  They got bored here and there, but overall, it was great.  This was our last event we have attended.  And it was literally just a few days before they said no large gatherings.

Saturday, we attended Elise Fetzer's funeral. (Jake's cousin, Grant & Sandra's daughter) She was such a great person.  She was full of life and always seemed happy when we saw her.   Her funeral was very nice and there were some great talks.  It was nice to see family as well.  She will be missed!

The next week was the last week of school.  As the week went on, I was wondering what would be happening with our community as we heard more and more about the coronavirus.  I went to a court hearing for my class Thursday morning, which was very interesting by the way.  It was not as busy at the courthouse, as the first case or two of Covid-19 in Utah had been announced, or maybe it was the first community spread case.  I cannot remember.  My parents watched my 2 littles and when I got back, we watched a press conference about them closing the colleges and going to online learning.  They didn't close the schools yet but did the next day.  This crazy virus that started in China, that is affecting peoples respiratory systems has now reached Utah.  Things were starting to get real.  So many people are recovering, but some are fighting for their lives and others have died.  Jake is seeing and hearing more being at the hospital every day.  I don't know if that makes it more or less scary for me.   For the last couple weeks, they have asked people to stay home and self-isolate and now are really stressing that to help flatten the curve so our hospital systems can handle what they need to handle.  We have been doing that, except for Jake working of course.  Enjoying our time with each other.

March 17th, we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day.  I wanted to do something for the kids since they missed school and missed their friends.  We had a little scavenger hunt to find the pot 'o gold.  They had a good time.  Then we celebrated with green foods for dinner.

A few days into our self-isolating, March 18th to be exact.  Utah had a 5.7 earthquake.  What?!  It was a little scary, but after all was said and done the kids thought it was a little cool.  We hung out that day with Grandma Fetzer until Jake got home.  We were all okay and we now know what an earthquake is like and what to do to be prepared.

Ava celebrated her birthday on March 22.  She has been such a good sport.  We didn't get to the boutique with Grandma like we usually do, because at that point we thought big groups would not be a good idea.  We did homemade pizza and cake and ice cream.   She received a few fun phone calls, some texts and messages on facebook/instagram which she enjoyed. She got to watch the movie of her choice and we gave her a few presents.  We had to cancel her baptism which we had been preparing for the last few weeks.  We could have done it with just us, but she wanted to celebrate that day with her family and friends.  So something to look forward to in the future.  We love this girl and are so proud of all that she does!  We only ended up with one girl, but we think we got the best of the best with Miss Ava.  She is pretty great!

This past week we got some yard work in, some house cleaning/organizing and a lot of playing and free time, as we didn't make the kids do too much as it was their spring break. (I still had schoolwork because my break was a couple of weeks ago) We were all pretty bummed to miss our trip to St. George, but look forward to another sometime in the future!    We have colored positive messages on the sidewalk a couple of times and Jill dropped off some paper and crayons for us to make signs to tape on people’s doors.  Hopefully we helped brighten someone’s day.  I have been texting with my sisters and talking to my mom on the phone to keep in touch.  We miss seeing them all!  We did a little drive by to wave at Grandma and Grandpa so that was fun for all involved.

This morning I participated in a ward zoom meeting, where the Bishop conducted a 5th Sunday Message. It was good to see faces of people in the ward.  The message was about improving our relationships with people during this time and continue in having meaningful prayer.

Today we have the opportunity to participate in a worldwide fast for relief from covid-19. Whether it be physical, emotional, spiritual or whatever relief we may need at this time. Our prophet as well as other faiths and communities have invited all to participate.

With all the craziness around the world we pray for Peace. With all that is going on right now, with the loss and devastation that illness brings we fast and pray for relief for everyone around the world and trust in God to bring strength and courage. I'm so thankful these moments I get to spend with my family and this time to slow down and focus on what really matters and improve relationships with myself, my family and others.   I have appreciated social media a little bit more lately.   The funny things to help brighten my day, the positive and encouraging things, people keeping us informed and the inspiring things people are doing at this time.  I am thankful for family and friends who continue to check in on us.

We miss them and look forward to seeing them in person in the future.

I am so thankful for the healthcare workers and others doing their part to help all of those in need.  I am especially thankful for Jake and the courage and
strength that he has to go and help people at the hospital not just during this time, but always.  He is so hard working and we love him so much! I pray that we all will stay healthy and happy during this time of uncertainty.

WE GOT THIS!
