Birthdays and Snow Days

It's been a bit!

We have had a few fun happenings this past month and it seems like we have had a lot going on.

The highlights:

We have been playing street hockey at the stake center and it has been so much fun.  Sometimes we have a few others join us, but have done it just with our family also.
A Fun new family activity for sure!

January 14th
We celebrated Lawson's 11th birthday.  He is growing up too fast!  He likes to read and play sports.  He is a good big brother to his siblings and helps out with them.  We celebrated with Chinese food and cheesecake.  Later in the month Jake took him to the new Star Wars movie and they had a good time there.

My birthday of course is 2 days later, but Laws is the real birthday focus.  Mine is kind of just an after thought, which is perfect.  My family does things to make my day special and that is all I need.  Becca had dropped by dinner earlier in the week for my birthday to use when needed.   She wanted me to have a break from cooking for my birthday.  I used it the night I went to class, which was helpful for sure. ❤ She is so thoughtful and I appreciated it a lot!  I had so many birthday wishes as well, which of course added to my day.  Jake had a work thing that night so we celebrated with cafe rio salads and a movie the next night, when the kids were settled for the night.  Those are our kind of date nights these days and I love them!

We had a few other activites during the month with family which are always a good time.  We love both of our families and enjoy the times we get to spend with them.

Another fun day was all the snow this past Monday.  So much that they canceled school.  And a few hours later I found out my class was canceled as well, which was great!  We shoveled A LOT and the kids played  in the snow A LOT.  It was a fun day and we enjoyed our extra time together.

What we are are up to:

Jake has been working hard as usual.  He has attended a few work dinners and other work activities.  He doesn't get a lot of free time, and when he does we get to hang out with him, which we all love.  He has had some other projects he has had to work on during his free time, which I am sure he would rather be doing something more fun.   One of them was fixing the car.  He is pretty great!
We appreciate him and all that he does for our family.

Anna.  I have just been taking care of things at home, which sometimes I feel like I can't keep up with it all.  I have also been keeping up with my two classes and trying to figure out what classes, if any will work out for summer.  I still feel like I need to organize my time and other things better and I hope to make a plan and follow through with it very soon.

Lawson has been practicing for his town meeting at school.  He has been reading his birthday books and is really enjoying hockey.  He has been getting up with Jake in the morning s to exercise and has been really  good at keeping up with it.

Ava has also been practicing for her town meeting.  She is great at doing her assignments right away and is really good at helping me get things done at the house.  She is a great little helper and likes to run errands with me.  We had fun at a family baby shower together.

Pierce is a little ball of energy and a little bit of sass.  He always has something clever to say and is doing well with his online preschool.  I feel like it is really starting to sink in.  He loves and feels emotions so deeply which is wonderful and infuriating at the same time.

Weston has a new nightly ritual of bringing his toys up on our bed and asking Jake, "You play with me dad?" with the cutest little pout face.  So everynight Jake and him have a little imaginitve play and it is just my favorite!  He always says thank you mom and is asking a lot of questions these days.

Here are a few pictures from the month, I wish I had more...

Here are some quotes are statements that really struck a chord with me this past month:
